Religion and ethics

NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.

If you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.

At Figtree Public School, Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Education in Ethics (SEE) is delivered every Friday at the following times:

K-2          9:15am - 9:45am

Stage 2   9:45am - 10:15am

Stage 3   10:15am - 10:45am

Need to update your SRE/SEE preference

In addition to parent/carers submitting their SRE/SEE preference during the online enrolment form process, parent/carers can submit their SRE/SEE preference anytime, using this online form.

The following SRE classes are offered at Figtree Public School:

Bahai

Lessons are provided by the Baha’i Council. More information about Bahai SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit

Anglican

Lessons are provided by SRE teachers from Figtree Anglican Church. 

The curriculum is based on Good News about Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of our Christian life and culture and can be found at

Catholic

Lessons are provided by educators from the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong. Catholic SRE teachers are authorised by the local parish of Unanderra and trained by the Diocese of the Catholic Church.

The Catholic SRE curriculum is approved by the Bishop of the Diocese in liaison with religious education experts.  Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students, whilst also providing them the opportunity to critically explore in depth their faith and to pray and reflect.
